Agency Announcement | June 2026
Dear community,
After more than 44 years of serving youth and families throughout Santa Cruz County, as well as Monterey and San Benito Counties, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Monterey Bay will discontinue mentoring services effective June 30, 2026.
This decision follows the Board of Directors’ determination to cease operations and disaffiliate from Big Brothers Big Sisters of America (BBBSA). While this chapter is coming to a close, we remain incredibly proud of the impact this organization has had on our community over the past four decades. Our highest priority during this transition is supporting the children, families, and mentors currently participating in our programs.
Families, volunteers, and community members interested in future Big Brothers Big Sisters mentoring opportunities in Santa Cruz, Monterey, or San Benito Counties may contact Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Bay Area.
If you’re interested in continuing your Match with the Bay Area agency,
contact our Partnerships and Programs Manager M. Legere at her new email mlegere@bbbsba.org and she will be happy to support you with next steps.
Since our founding, thousands of young people have benefited from the support, encouragement, and guidance of caring adult mentors. These life-changing relationships have helped youth build confidence, strengthen resilience, and pursue brighter futures. We are deeply grateful to the volunteers, families, donors, staff members, and community partners who made this work possible. We extend our sincere appreciation to Big Brothers Big Sisters of America for our many years of partnership and shared commitment to youth mentoring.
